Mythology & Meaning

Parvati is the goddess of love, fertility, devotion, and gentle yet powerful feminine energy. In mythology, she is the wife of the god Shiva and the mother of Ganesha and Murugan.

Parvati represents a form of Shakti – the divine energy that animates the entire universe. She is the goddess of relationships, marriage, fertility, family, motherhood, strength, endurance, and domestic peace. However, she also rules over liberation, dissolution, and destruction.

The vast majority of Hindu goddesses are essentially manifestations of various aspects and forms of Parvati.

In one branch of Hinduism, called Shaktism, the divine Mother is perceived as the supreme deity. Parvati is her loving, supportive face – one that embraces, heals, and guides through with sensitivity and compassion.
